Worrying Mistakes from Biden and Trump

Is Joe Biden losing his mind?

The Grind

The Republican National Committee is suggesting that Joe Biden is mentally unfit to serve as president based on a series of blunders and false statements.

Speaking Monday at a campaign event in Iowa, Biden called to ban all guns with “magazines that can hold multiple bullets.”

Since all magazines hold multiple bullets, it looks like the comment was a mistake.

“The idea that we don’t have elimination of assault-type weapons, magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them, is absolutely mindless,” said Biden. “It is no violation of the Second Amendment. It’s just a bow to the special interests of the gun manufacturers and the NRA.

The Details

Last week, the Washington Post criticized Biden for sharing a war story that was inaccurate in almost every detail. Biden said the mistakes did not affect the point of the story and would not affect his abilities as president.

“I was making a point about a generation. That has nothing to do with judgement of whether or not you send troops to war, the judgement of whether you bring someone home, the judgement of whether you decide on a healthcare policy.”

Other recent mishaps include:

— Referring to New Hampshire as “Vermont”

— Claiming he was Vice President during the 2018 shooting in Parkland, FL

— Saying that “poor kids are just as bright as white kids”

— Making jokes about allegations that he inappropriately touched women

If it were Trump making mistakes during speeches (which he often does), the media would accuse him of lying. By arguing that his mistakes don’t matter, is Biden defending his right to use false statements on the campaign trail?

President Trump accidentally reveals location of US spy satellite

The Grind

In his latest Twitter blunder, President Trump shared a classified image that revealed the location of a US spy satellite.

“The United States of America was not involved in the catastrophic accident during final launch preparations for the Safir SLV Launch at Semnan Launch Site One in Iran,” tweeted Trump on Friday. “I wish Iran best wishes and good luck in determining what happened.”

His tweet included a photo of the launch site, which appears charred by a recent launch failure.

The Details

By studying the angle of the image, astronomy experts were able to estimate the location of the satellite that took the picture.

Based on the location, Dutch astronomer Marco Langbroek believes the image was taken last Thursday by the USA-224 (a super-secret recon satellite that cost around $2 billion).

“There is no doubt in my mind that it is an image taken by USA-224,” tweeted Langbroek. “The level of detail in the image is incredible,” he added. “These are high resolution optical satellites that resemble the Hubble Space Telescope, but look down to Earth instead of to the heavens.”

US regulations prohibit commercial imagery better than .25-meter resolution. Based on the photo of the launch site, the USA-224 has a resolution of at least 10 centimeters.

This is the sort of information you don’t want your enemies to know.

“This will have global repercussions,” warns nuclear proliferation expert Joshua Pollack. “The utter carelessness of its all. So reckless.”
