CNN Anchor Praises Trump On The Handling of Coronavirus

The Grind

On Tuesday, CNN anchor Dana Bash applauded President Donald Trump on his handling of the China-originated novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, praising Trump as the “kind of leader that people need” in this time of crisis.

“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the President of the United Sates,” Bash stated on CNN airwaves, Tuesday afternoon. “This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud, from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint.”

The Details

“[Trump] is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crises and uncertainty,” the anchor added.

CNN has been notably negative with their coverage of Trump, once even attempting to create a scandalous story over the president choosing not one, but two scoops of ice cream for dessert.

The coronavirus has infected 5,213 Americans as of Tuesday afternoon, with a death toll of 85. Globally, we are nearing 200,000 confirmed cases and 7,800 deaths.

Foreign Coronavirus Disinformation Campaign Trying to Cause U.S. Panic

The Grind

Trump administration officials warned the public on Monday that a foreign disinformation campaign is trying to incite panic over a non-existent national lockdown over coronavirus.

An unnamed “senior official” told Fox News that “there is an ongoing effort to spread disinformation and cause undue panic” among U.S. citizens, but confirmed, “there is no national quarantine for the United States.” Now, more than ever, “it’s important we remain vigilant in ensuring our information is coming from verified sources,” they said.

The Associated Press received similar communication from the White House, warning of “a deliberate effort by a foreign entity to sow fears of a nationwide quarantine amid the virus outbreak.”

The Details

These officials also spoke on condition of anonymity and declined to name the source of the campaign.

On Sunday, the National Security Council tweeted: “Text message rumors of a national #quarantine are FAKE. There is no national lockdown,” and encouraged Americans to pay attention to CDC guidance instead.

The Pentagon has already reprimanded the Chinese government for spreading “false and absurd conspiracy theories about the origin of COVID-19 blaming U.S. service members.”

On Sunday, the Trump administration announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was the victim of a cyberattack that appears to have been directly aimed at slowing down the federal department’s coronavirus response operations. The aggressor then, too, remained unidentified. Read more…
