Arizona is Expected to Pass Firearm Freedom Bill

The Grind:
On March 29, the Arizona Senate passed HB2111, a bill that would ban Arizona law enforcement from enforcing unconstitutional federal gun control laws.

According to AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News, the bill is titled the “2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act.” The bill was first passed in the Arizona House on February 24, 2021.

The bill’s text outlines the following:

Pursuant to the sovereign authority of this state and article II, section 3, Constitution of Arizona, This state and all political subdivisions of this state are prohibited from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the United States government that is inconsistent with any law of this state regarding the regulation of firearms.

The Details:
According to the Associated Press, HB2111 would “[prohibit] police and sheriffs from enforcing federal gun laws that violate the 2nd Amendment.”

HB2111 did receive bipartisan support, after one Democrat State Senator, Lisa Otondo, voted alongside Republicans to pass the legislation. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey is expected to sign this bill into law. Since passing Constitutional Carry in 2010, Arizona has quickly emerged as one of America’s most pro-Second Amendment states.

Other states, such as Missouri are entertaining similar legislation. Republican elected officials recognize that a Democrat trifecta at the federal level is not conducive to any pro-gun reforms, and on top of that, it could lead to potential gun grabs. Read more…
