President Trump said again on Thursday that he will veto the Defense Authorization bill.
He made the statement in a Twitter post mentioning Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) criticizing of social media companies.
“I will Veto the Defense Bill, which will make China very unhappy. They love it. Must have Section 230 termination, protect our National Monuments and allow for removal of the military from far away, and very unappreciative, lands. Thank you!” President Trump said in his retweet.
The Details:
The president has been suggesting removing Section 230 protection for social media companies like Facebook, Twitter, etc. because those companies are functioning more and more like a publisher than a platform.
Trump threatened to veto the Defense bill on Dec. 2 insisting Congress change the rules that shield the technology companies.
“Section 230, which is a liability shielding gift from the U.S. to ‘Big Tech’ (the only companies in America that have it-corporate welfare!), is a serious threat to our National Security & Election Integrity. Our Country can never be safe & secure if we allow it to stand,” Trump Tweeted. Read more…
