Trump Calls Surge of Coronavirus Cases a ‘Media Conspiracy’ with just eight days until Election Day

The Grind:
President Trump called the surge in cases of COVID-19 a “media conspiracy” on Monday with about a week left of campaigning before Election Day.

“Cases up because we TEST, TEST, TEST,” Trump tweeted on Monday. “A Fake News Media Conspiracy. Many young people who heal very fast. 99.9%. Corrupt Media conspiracy at all time high. On November 4th., topic will totally change. VOTE!”

The Details:
Trump accused the media of reporting on COVID-19 health risks as a means to influence voter turnout, adding that extensive media coverage “should be an election law violation!”

“We have made tremendous progress with the China Virus, but the Fake News refuses to talk about it this close to the Election,” Trump wrote. “COVID, COVID, COVID is being used by them, in total coordination, in order to change our great early election numbers.”

Early vote totals have already exceeded 2016 totals. Trump has pushed his voters to go to polling places on Tuesday. After recovering from the virus himself, Trump implored voters not to “let it dominate your life.” Read more…
